A Case Study on Muzeon regarding Innovation in Museums
Last year, a case study on Muzeon was published as a result of our involvement in the DOORS (Digital Incubator for Museums) program. In addition, we were honoured to have our case study presented at the NEMO international conference in Sibiu in November 2024, marking an important milestone in our contribution to the global conversation on digital transformation in museums.

The case study explores how Muzeon has successfully adopted a digital approach, rethinking how audiences interact with museum content. At the heart of this transformation is our interactive audio guide web app, which replaces traditional guided tours with a more immersive and personalised experience. Visitors can explore Muzeon’s story-guided exhibitions at their own pace by simply scanning a QR code on their phone, eliminating the need for additional devices or apps while providing easy access to content in multiple languages.
A key aspect of this digital evolution has been our ability to analyse visitor behaviour and continually improve their museum experience. Using a monitoring system, we have been able to track how visitors interact with the audio guide, identify the content that resonates best with our audience, and adjust narration styles accordingly. One notable example was adjusting the voice of one of the audio guides for one of our stories, which initially had lower engagement among our visitors. By changing the narration, we were able to increase listener engagement, ensuring a more balanced experience for all of our stories.

Beyond enhancing its own visitor experience, Muzeon has also developed a subscription model, allowing other museums – both in Romania and internationally – to customise and adopt the web application for their own exhibitions. This initiative not only extends the reach of our technology, but also encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing within the museum sector.
Through these innovations, Muzeon is setting an example for museums that want to integrate technology, collect and use statistical data about visitors’ interaction with the exhibition, and incorporate digital storytelling into their museum offerings. As we continue to improve our product and expand our offerings, we look forward to contributing to a more connected and interactive museum experience for visitors around the world.
